In psychological rating scales, moving home is often considered one of the most stressful events anyone can go through and is ranked alongside a death in the family and other stressful scenarios. This is understandable when you think about what it actually is that you are going through – you are going through the process of moving your entire life and all of your possessions from one location to a new one and hoping along the way that nothing gets broken or lost. This means both packing and carefully putting away everything in your home, as well as shipping it and then unloading it and tidying it, and it means paying for the costs of the move. On top of everything else though life still goes on – and this means you'll be living around the mess and trying to ferry children to and from school while also looking for.

This is even more stressful if you are moving a long way – now you need to meet new friends, say goodbye to your old friends and any family, find a new place of work, find new schools for your children and learn the way around somewhere new. But if you're moving country then all of this is far more stressful again as you now be travelling much further afield, will be leaving everyone further behind, and will have to travel much further with all of your belongings. Meanwhile if you are travelling to another country then there are far more legal and logistical issues.

To make matter less stressful then the first thing you should do is to seek help from an immigration attorney. It is the job of an immigration attorney to make sure that you are fully aware of all the legal issues surrounding your move, and to make sure that you do so completely legally. A the same time they will help you to fill out forms and to answer any immigration questions you may have.

Once you have secured the help of your immigration attorney you should also start to think about some of the other aspects of moving – such as where you are going to send your children etc. The sooner you get all of this out of the way, the less you will have on your plate and the better you will be able to focus on the task in hand.

Otherwise you need to address this move as you would any other move – ignoring the fact that you are thinking of Canadian immigration. You need to pack all of your boxes in the same way as you would – being careful to optimise your use of space and to label all boxes to help with stacking and sorting the other end. To make the whole process much easier, you can use a removals company as you would anywhere else – but make sure that you find one which goes overseas and so can help you with immigration to Canada. This way you won't have to worry about packing, carrying or shipping any of your belongings and this will all be handled for you instead.
